BANA to Hold 2026 Spring Meeting May 11-13 in Pittsburgh, PA

The Braille Authority of North America (BANA) will hold its 2026 spring meeting in Pittsburgh, PA, on May 11 through 13. This meeting will be hosted by the American Foundation for the Blind, a BANA member organization.

The meeting will be held in Posvar Hall on the University of Pittsburgh campus.  On Monday, May 11, and Tuesday, May 12, the meeting will be held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On Wednesday, May 13, BANA will meet from 9:00 AM till noon.

Items on the Board’s spring agenda include a review of formal reports from BANA’s technical committees, such as Nemeth, Braille Formats, and Tactile Graphics, as well as its general committees and task forces, such as the General Committee on UEB, and the General Committee on Electronic Braille. BANA members will act on recommendations and will issue committee charges when appropriate.

This semi-annual face-to-face meeting follows BANA’s fall meeting, which was hosted by National Braille Press in Boston, MA.

Interested parties are invited to attend and observe the BANA Board’s face-to-face meetings. If you are interested in being an in-person observer, please contact BANA Chair Jen Goulden at 613-552-4191 or by email at chair@brailleauthority.org no later than April 20, 2026

The mission of the Braille Authority of North America is to assure literacy for tactile readers through the standardization of braille and/or tactile graphics.
